How It Works

If you are an attorney or a “regular” person or publisher with copy to be read:

  • You contact me via the Contact page and tell me what the project is and the turnaround time needed.  Please also tell me, as best you can, the number of pages involved.
  • I will get back to you as soon as I receive your message and let you know whether I can meet your deadline.  If I can, I will then request a phone call to discuss the details of your requirements and the delivery format.  Depending on the size and the nature of the job, we may negotiate a flat fee instead of a per page rate.
  • Double-spaced documents are preferred.  It will be far easier for me to make, and for you to read, corrections.

If you are a CR/scopist:

  • You email me a PDF file that has been scoped and spell-checked.  The cleaner the copy you send, the faster I can get it back to you and the smaller the risk that it will need to be up-charged.
  • If you need help converting to PDF you can download a free converter.  I will be happy to provide assistance with the conversion process.
  • Make sure you tell me what turnaround time you need so I can check and confirm my availability.  Transcripts time-stamped after 11:00 p.m. are considered “received” the next morning.
  • I annotate the corrections clearly and concisely and send back to you only the pages that need correcting, so you don’t have to search through the entire document.  The first time we work together I will send you a preference sheet so I can make sure my corrections are consistent with your personal style.
  • Large files (in excess of 100 pages) will have a better chance of turning around quickly if you send them piecemeal in smaller chunks, even if you’re still completing them.  The sooner I can start proofing, the sooner your job will be completed.
  • Proofreading with audio is also an option.  Please note that since that expands the time frame of the job, rates will be adjusted accordingly.
